What is an Integrative Medicine consultation?
Integrative Medicine means much more than “the intelligent combination of traditional western medicine combined with evidence based complementary and alternative treatments”.
The Integrative Medicine practitioner embodies health, as a steward of healing. If the patient needs assistance in the areas of mind, body or spirit, the provider is adept at partnering with, and providing care, in any and all of these domains.
The patient can expect to discuss whatever is pertinent to their goals. That may be discussing childhood experiences, cultural or religious arenas, and lifestyle choices regarding exercise, food, supplements, environments, behaviors and even thinking patterns. The patient can expect to learn a variety of natural methods to deal with issues and enhance and invigorate their lives. The patient can expect to have a confidential and trusting relationship with the provider. The dialogue is not limited to the above. The patient may need a confidential provider to listen if life problems or stressors need to be discussed. This may include emotional or spiritual coaching. At the final 15 minutes of the consultation, plans and goals will be delineated as a guidepost for progress.
Is the Integrative Medicine consult covered by my insurance?
No, insurances do not cover this service.
Integrative Medicine seeks to delve deep into the mind, body and spirit of the patient in order to heal deep wounds, reverse chronic disease processes and revitalize lives. This multi-layered approach requires a great deal of time and attention. This is simply not a service insurance plans will cover. The Integrative Medicine consultation can be compared to getting a massage or taking a yoga class, where insurance companies are concerned. It is in the category of “wellness,” a complimentary service. Integrative Medicine consultations are not only good for our health; they have the ability to revitalize and invigorate suspended and infirm lives.
How do I schedule an Integrative Medicine consult?
To schedule your initial consultation, we would ask you to call or visit the office and book your visit with our providers. Our staff can provide the necessary forms to fill out before your visit. Alternatively, you may also go online and schedule your appointment through our website. Just click the Patel Wellness & Spa button on the right and follow the prompts to schedule an appointment. Please visit the Patient Care Forms tab, print and fill out the New Integrative Wellness History Form and Consent. We ask that you submit these forms to the office a minimum of 5 days prior to your appointment, so our providers can better prepare for your visit.
What does an Integrative Medicine consult cost?
Upon scheduling the visit, you will be asked to place a $50 deposit to secure your appointment. This deposit will be applied to your service. We understand sometimes life gets in the way, please call and cancel a minimum of 24 hours before your visit to avoid a $50 no-show fee.
The initial consultation is an hour and a half and costs $300.00
The follow-up visits are one hour and cost $150.00
How long is the consultation?
The initial visit is 1.5 hours and the subsequent follow up visits are 1 hour.
What do I need to provide before my visit to the clinic?
Before your visit you can log into the website and complete the necessary paperwork. Please return the paperwork at least five days before your visit so the IM practitioner can review your information and be prepared to assist you on your path.
What can I expect after my consultation?
After the consultation the provider will prepare a document outlining the recommendations and goals for your review.
Can I get my medical care (sick or wellness) during my IM visit?
You cannot combine your sick care or annual wellness exams with the IM consultation because the IM consult is a separate and distinct service. The service is designed to reverse chronic disease and aging and maximize health. It could be likened to purchasing a session of acupuncture in that it is not a covered service.
Can I get my prescriptions refilled, test results, or referrals during my IM consult?
You cannot obtain medical services during your consult secondary to the fact that you retain your primary care provider and they remain the accountable party for those services. Your primary care provider is charged with assuming the responsibilities of managing your current disease states, prescribing medications, ordering and reviewing necessary labs and tests and recommending treatment plans. These services are all covered under insurance plans and Patel Wellness & Spa is not contracted with any insurances. Since our goal at Patel Wellness & Spa is to focus on natural alternatives to optimize your health these insurance-covered medical services are not in the scope of our services. If you a patient of Fountain Hills Pediatrics & Internal Medicine, we will ask you to schedule an office visit with the medical practice to meet your medical needs.
Can I schedule a follow – up to my initial consultation?
Absolutely yes! We look forward to seeing you again. We encourage you to book your follow up visit after your initial consultation, so we can ensure you get the time and day that is most preferable. Our follow up visits are one hour long and there is no limit to the number of follow up visits a patient can schedule.
We hope you enjoy our Integrative Medicine Consults, our intention is help you optimize your health and deliver true healing.
